Have you had a sympathectomy to resolve hyperhidrosis? Was it successful?

I really hate it when my hands sweat. Recently, my hands have been litterally dripping with sweat. I have heard of complications with the surgery, so I have not pursued any sort of medical help.

Have you had a sympathectomy to resolve hyperhidrosis? Was it successful?
I recently attended a lecture on hyperhydrosis. This type of surgery was reported to eliminate sweating in the area of the body in which it was performed, but to cause excessive sweating in another part of the body.
Reply:I had extreme sweating of hands feet arm pits %26amp; head. While the surgery corrected the sweating of my hands, arm pits, head, it did cause extra sweating in other areas. Back, chest, legs. The down fall is the sweating there seems to be just as bad as it was in other areas Report It

Reply:Personally it is nice to shake someones hand and not have them wipe it off on there pants right after, it is also nice to not have large pit stains on all my shirts. However it is still a bit unpleasant to have large sweaty spots on my back and chest of my shirts. Report It

Reply:. I deal with that by always getting cups of ice and eating it, that seems to cool me off for awhile and stop the sweat. I know how you feel and feel sorry for all that have to go through this, it really is a very big problem that people without hyperhidrosis don't understand. Report It

Reply:. I am about 45# overweight and I don't know if that will help reduce the sweating in those place. Report It
