Does anyone have any "cures" or helpful ideas for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)?

For underarms. The only solutions I've been given by my dermatologist are botox ($2,000 a shot, it requires 15-20 shots. Two underarms. Nice.) and a liquid applied at night called Drysol. It can be very irritating and barely helps. Does anyone have any other ideas? I've had this problems for 3 years and I don't think I can stand it any longer :[ !!

There are oral medications for this condition. One is called Ditropan. You can also have surgery for it. These are facts. Your derm is a quack. I recommend seeing your regular doc and asking for a referral to someone who can correctly assess and treat your condition.

As far as temporary solutions, talc and baby powder have been found to be somewhat effective. Good luck-I;m sure this has to be so debilitating to you.
Reply:I got tired of the pastey crap on all my shirts so I stopped wearing deoderant. I clean the pits with isopropyl in the morning and again in the after noon is I start getting rank. With showering in the mornign and when I get home from work My sweat is alot less. I also noticed that a constant room temp at my comfort level helps tremendously.
Reply:Are you taking any other medications, other than Drysol or Botox? Either over-the-counter or prescription? I have similar problems with my antidepressants, but the benefits outweigh the side effects.

Reply:I would get a second opinion as the amount seems excessive.
