Does anyone know of anything that can help with excess sweating?

For the past year or so, I have had a massive sweat problem- all my tops have sweat stains, and I can't remember the last time I wore just a t-shirt, because I always have to put a jumper on top to cover up the wet patches. I just found out that it's actually a medical condition called hyperhidrosis, but before I go out and spend a load of money on extra strength anti-perspirants (nomal ones do nothing), I was wondering if anyone knew of anything that worked for them?

Does anyone know of anything that can help with excess sweating?
stay in the shade
Reply:a non aluminium containing deodarant.
Reply:get DRI CLOR from the chemist its especially for that
Reply:take the meds
Reply:You can go and have a minor operation where they cut the sweat gland or something like that. Also there is a special deodorant for excessive sweating too. Think its Driclor.
Reply:You should change your name to sweaty betty
Reply:You can get a medicine, I forget what it is called, but you apply it to wherever you are sweating the most and leave it on overnight. You wipe it off in the morning. Do this about 4 times a week.

If you are interested, e-mail me and I will ask my mom (pediatrician) what it is called. I used it, and it worked really well.
Reply:Driclor should work although it can cause a sore rash if you have sensitive skin. It is available at the chemists without a prescription. If you can afford it botox injections will definitely work but are expensive and have to be repeated regularly. I very much doubt they would be available on the NHS but you could always ask your GP.
Reply:I have this problem, for years I had to buy black tops to hide the patches. The answer is a product called Driclor which you apply at night before bed. It really does work. They sell it in boots. You will not have any patches after a few applications which last a week or so. Good luck.
Reply:If you are in the UK a deodorant called Mitchum is good, can get it in most supermarkets I have used it for years as I get a lot of hot flushes and they make me sweat and its brill.
Reply:Its a major step but if you find that the deodorants don't work for you (I would definitely try them first) I have heard that botox in the armpit can really help, in fact I think it stops sweating all together for a time.
Reply:Don't know the name but the doctor can prescribe an ointment.
Reply:you can buy a roll on from any chemist, its called anhydrol forte, i use it, its excellent, can use it under arms, on hands and feet, you put it on b4 bed then was off in the morning, depending on how much you sweat depends on how often you would use it, the first couple of times it stings really bad but well worth it, have recommended it to a few of my friends.
Reply:How much salt do you have in your diet? A doctor I knew in Germany reckoned this was a big cause of this.
Reply:I have had this problem recently, I think Im starting the menopause. Anyway, I have started using an extra strength deaodorant each night. You apply it before you go to bed (apparantly you sweat less when you lie down!). In the morning you apply your normal deadorant. It builds up on your skin and it has worked for me. I applied it for approx 4 days, then I apply it every 3-4 days, and this has done the trick. Any good chemist or supermarket stocks these products, the one I used cost approx £4. Good luck
Reply:Black gooash or pyto soy nutrients may be of use, take a visit to your health food shop they will be able to advise re an aid for your condition.

Good wishes
Reply:I suffer the same problem, and it used to bring me down!

I discovered Odaban - it's an anti-perspirant similar to Driclor although I have never used both so couldn't compare the 2, but find Odaban to be successful in stopping me sweating.

Reply:Hi, y could try PerspireX or Dryiclor but these do irritate the

skin.

There is a new product out which works wonders and is non toxic called Alvin Connor natural balance.

It works with natural crystals and lets the skin breath at the same time. Go to Alvin Connor.com for more info.

Good luck .

Why other people sweat on their underarms and didnt get any bad smell?

i had a problem with my underarm, that sweat minimally and stinks, i had an underarm hyperhidrosis but controlled by driclor, is it hereditary or skin infection? (the underarm odor)

i had this problem since my 1st year highschool 11 or 12 yrs old.

Why other people sweat on their underarms and didnt get any bad smell?
Well, Actually the smell your smelling is your sweat mixing with bacteria under your arms. Try to not eat food with potent odors such as garlic...etc. But, it can be hereditary. Some people aren't cursed with this stench (unlike me and you) but their ancestors must have came from a place where they didn't need to sweat that much. Hope this helped you!
Reply:Use Proactiv. 100% effective. Get the whole kit and use it as if you would use it on your face. Afterwards, use deodorant as well. I am serious Report It

Reply:It depends on your diet. I would suggest a stronger deodorant and start using Baby Powder.
Reply:I think it is somewhat hereditary and also it seems that the cause of the sweat tends to play an important role. If it is from anxiety it tends to have a much greater odor than if it is from exertion. I have found that using a gel extra dry deodorant is very effective.
Reply:I have hyperhisrosis also, but no smell, I wear 2 types of deodorant, Mitchoum, which dries it up pretty good and then one that has a fresh scent, and it usually works pretty good. I dont think its hereditary b/c know one in my family has it, but to me, when your worried about it it gets worse and hard to control, I have it on my palms also and thats really tuff to control, I've just learned to live with it, cant afford to have my sweat glands removed just yet.
Reply:First of all, brush up on your grammar, it makes the question hard to understand. and now on to your problem, underarm odor is caused not by the sweat but by outside bacteria mingling with your sweat turning the bodily oils in your sweat rancid making them smell and attracting even more bacteria,,,,,, have you tried bathing daily or not wearing the same clothes twice? if yes and if that doesn't help maybe you have overactive sweat glands and medication is actually the only way to go,,,, sorry
Reply:That underarm smell is primarily cause by bacteria dwelling in your skin. Your diet also affects your body odor, food such as garlic increase the strength of these body odors.
Reply:I tell ya, I swear by ZINC!!! I used to shower and still feel yukky. No deodorant seem to help. Then I read in a Vitamin book about Zinc. It works, I swear. It's also great for clearing up pimples. And you ladies with sore boobies during "that time", use Vitamin E. Your boobies will be touchable, painfree, and you can sleep on your stomach!!!!!
Reply:probably because thhe sweat gland is not working properly, which then results in no smell.

This is gross but I have sweaty hands & feet..?

My feet always slip out of shoes/sandals! Does anyone have any remedies for this? and also for hands? I've tried putting antipersprant on and sprayign my shoes w/ hairspray so they kinda stick and don't slip as much, but I need something better b/c it is gross and annoying! Before anyone mentions hyperhidrosis, already researched it-lots of money...

This is gross but I have sweaty hands %26amp; feet..?
I have the same problem! I'm embarrased to shake hands with people and my feet always slip out of shoes/sandals too!

i asked this question here. maybe their answers may help you

Ans1: you may want to go to your doctor and check your iron.

you may be low in iron (found in green leafy vegetables, meat, and some iron enriched cereals - corn flakes etc)

Ans2:depends on how sweaty your talking..if your talking extreme sweatyness all the time then you might need sugery to remove sweat glands...

Ans3:you can use deodorant - or if it is persistant ask your doc..

Ans4:Hi, I'm a tennis player and there's a great product called Dry Grip you should try. Tennis or golf shops often carry it, or you can get it online.

It works great for sweaty palms.

I chose answer 1 as my best bec I think it's true, I'm a bit anemic
Reply:Rare, but not freakishly rare. I suggest you make an appointment with a dermatologist.
Reply:You could try goldbond body powder. that would probably help alot.
Reply:for the shoes put some activated charcoal in the shoes, also some baking soda

for the internal take some chlorphyll and activated charocoal.
Reply:Not to be a downer, but my friend has lupus, they found it because of excessive sweating in her hands and feet. I would ask your doctor and go over a good family history with him just to make sure it is not something bigger. My solution is Goldbond powder though... that stuff is great.

Is there a way to cure my pams sweating?

palmar hyperhidrosis

Is there a way to cure my pams sweating?
Hyperhidrosis can be caused by food allergies, or a mineral/vitamin deficiency. I had the ETS surgery done, it's very expensive.

I had hyperhidrosis (and a few other symptoms) for many years and went through all the usual treatments.

Anticholinergic drugs, applying topical solutions, botox, and ETS surgery. The surgery was most helpful but several

years later hyperhidrosis began to return.

Years later I was diagnosed with celiac disease, along with a few food allergies. I eliminated wheat, dairy, and

sugar from my diet and stopped all prescriptions. I began taking supplements:

- Vitamin B complex

Contains 50mg of every B vitamin plus Folic Acid

- Mineral complex

Contains Magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, etc.

You can see the rest of my story here:

Have you tried the new secret clinical strength deodorant?

If so, is it as strong as other brands such as certain-dri. I suffer from hyperhidrosis and would like to know if this is strong enough for heavy sweating.

Have you tried the new secret clinical strength deodorant?
I also have hyperhidrosis. The secret clinical strength do not work that well. I have tried it. The deodorant that works for me is the new Dove ultimate clear cool essentials. It smells great and keep my underarms sweat free. Maybe you should try it.

Hope this helps.
Reply:i would go with something organic and more naturally made because an indgredient in secret's deodrant helps increase your risk of cancer.
Reply:i havent tried certain dri, but ive been using the secret and i havent noticed a difference, ive been ptting it on for a week . the thing is, it's white so you have to be careful when putting clothes on, which is probably why its used at night.

Am i having an allergic reaction to my medicine?

hi, i have a condition called hyperhidrosis and my doctor gave me medicine to take, it is called glycopyrrolate and i was wondering could this cause an allergic reaction? i dont take it everyday but the days i do take it, my skin gets really itchy- especially on my face. that may sound strange but it has been happening after i started taking this medicine, so could it be the medicine? has anyone else had this problem? please help if you can, thanks :)

Am i having an allergic reaction to my medicine?
Hi , you need to stop a acceptance this medication. Robinul® (generic name: glycopyrrolate) is good oral drug used for hyperhidrosis problems, but you have side effect, allergic reaction is frequent phenomena for glycopyrrolate. You can have also a dry mouth or dry throat often leading to pain in these areas.

Hyperhidrosis can usually be treated, but there is no cure.

You can use Aluminum chloride (hexahydrate) solution: Common brands of aluminum cholride solution (as anti-perspirant) include "MegaDry®" (which uses a non-irritating blend of aluminum chlorohydrate), Drysol®, CertainDri®, Odaban®, and Driclor®.

Or other oral drugs to treat the condition for example: propantheline bromide (Probanthine®) and benztropine (Cogentin®), also Zoloft®, often help alleviate symptoms. I would recommend a discussed with your doctor.

Jason Homan
Reply:Itchy irritated skin is one of the most common allergic reactions to anything. Since it sounds like you have noticed it happening right after the medication, I would suspect it could be the cause. Read the paperwork your pharmacist gave with the medication, or give him a call first. I would definately contact the doctor.
Reply:Here are some links but I think you should call your doctor and tell him this.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/drugi...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycopyrrol...
Reply:Ask your doctor for syde effects and see if they match. Try going on the internet and searching up the medication name. Also, if you see any swelling, go to the doctor immediately. An allergy can flare up with continious use, and even make your tongue and throat swell up, making it hard to breathe! Ask your doctor if it a bad sign, and maybe he can switch your medications!

Sweaty hands! HELP ME NOW?

Okay my hands only sweat when i get really nervouse or when someone is about to shake or hold my hand. I know that the person is about to shake my hand and hope my hands wont sweat and then they start to. I cant even go to church because im so embarrassed.. is this normal and does anybody here have the same thing? anything to get rid of this.. please help me PS ( i no its not hyperhidrosis )

Sweaty hands! HELP ME NOW?
Well my dad and cousin both have sweaty hands, or had sweaty hands that like only a few people in my family ever get from jeans, but they sweat all the time, they had surgery like by their armpits that stopped their hands and feet and even armpits from sweating, like totally, only when its super hot will they barely sweat.
Reply:uhh. i think i have a sweating condition in my armpits, but f or your hands idk. you have to talk to your doctor.

i only sometimes sweat in my hands

mint

What do you do for excessive sweating??????

okay.. so i know that sweating is normal... i have a condition called hyperhidrosis.. (excessive sweating).. some people have the sweating in their hands, feet, thighs, but i have it in my armpits....and i would like to know some of the things i could do to help slow down the sweating... and no.. changing deoderants will not help... believe me i have tried... it is embarrasing and i need some thing to help before prom comes!!!! please help soon...

What do you do for excessive sweating??????
I have hyperhidrosis too and I know how embarrassing it can be. Go to doctor and get Drysol. You only use it once a week at night and a bottle will last about a year. It will completely stop your sweating the first time you use it. It can be used on any part of your body and cost about $14. I promise you it will work.
Reply:try to relax more and worry less.
Reply:A healthy diet with plenty of fruit, veg too but mainly fruit really helps. I know this for a fact. You don't necessarily need to cut other things out of your diet but regular gentle exercise will also help. After a week of eating well you will see the difference in how much you sweat, believe me.
Reply:I know that you said switching deodorants wouldn't work. Deodorants don't stop people from sweating, Antiperspirants do.
Reply:just try to relax maybe listen to some calming music

Sweating and not hot :(?

this is a serious question, so im looking for serious answers only please...i am a 21 year old white female. since i can remember (or puberty?), ive always had excessive perspiration in the armpits (hyperhidrosis). i have come across an amazing product called CertainDri that combats the excessive wetness. although i shower daily, use this product, and have used every great deodorant/antiperspirant available, i still tend to sweat (even if im not hot). when i sweat, i still get b.o., even though ive showered, used certaindri, and deodorant. help! any suggestions or tips? im desperate!!

Sweating and not hot :(?
Why Do I Sweat So Much?

What Can I Do About Sweating?

Sweating is one part of puberty. When your body starts to change, your 3 million sweat glands become more active. At the same time, glands in your armpits and groin and on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet produce oilier sweat, which has an adult odor. Sweating plays an important role in the body because it helps maintain body temperature by cooling you down. When you're hot and you sweat, that moisture evaporates and cools you off a bit.

So how should you handle sweat? Take a bath or shower daily, and if you're worried about your smell, use a deodorant or a deodorant with antiperspirant (a deodorant masks odor, whereas a deodorant combined with antiperspirant prevents sweat).

My son smells but is not his hygiene?

My son has i very big problem he smells but its not his hygiene. hes 14 and does every thing he can to not smell. i have tryed to help him but nothing works then i started looking online. now one thing i do know is he sweats alot. so i was woundering if it could be AXILLARY HYPERHIDROSIS is a condition were you sweat under the arms alot. there is another condition called Trimethylamineuria (Fish Odor Syndrome) thats were you smell like fish but he does not smell like a rotten fish. so does any one no other conditons or how i can help my son.

My son smells but is not his hygiene?
I think you should see a doctor. There are medical conditions (sometimes serious ones) that can cause a person to have horrible body odor. Don't take the chance of missing something, take him to see a doctor. I'm sure he is probably very self conscious about it and wants to get to the bottom of the problem just as much as you do. Kids can be cruel and I would hate for him to be teased for this in school.
Reply:soak him in tomato juice and after that teach him how to wipe his butt
Reply:Some foods make people smell, e.g. garlic, asparagus.
Reply:A friend of mine in high school had the same problem, but he ended up having a stomach problem.
Reply:A good dermatologist is what your son needs. There are treatments for excessive perspiration. The good news is that there are several options for your son to try. Brad Straka, MD, a dermatology resident at the Medical College of Wisconsin, recommends the use of aluminum chloride hexahydrate (Drysol). One to three treatments a week for a few weeks should result in improvement , and then one treatment a week should suffice to maintain dryness. This is a prescription anti-perspirant and if this is the same one that caused irritation for your son, he could try aluminum tetrachloride (Xerac), a less potent solution.
Reply:Have him take a bath in vinegar it will clean out his pours if he does it at least once a week you will notice the change.

once he is dry ed off the smell from the vinegar will go away.

good luck and i hope this helps
Reply:when your body is toxic from bad diet and not drinking enough water, the toxins come out his skin...he needs to eat vegetables and drink water and if you want him to get rid of toxins fast and relieve his liver and spleen..you will get a health food store drink or supplement for him made of barley and alfalfa greens to lower the acid pH in his body so the kidneys can get rid of it...we have electrolytes and they regulate our kidney function and digestion...he is acidic...too much meat and junk food.

I am shocked he has no stomach problems, acne, insomnia and other things from it..read Dr. Young's miracle on the www..........he will teach you about this.

http://www.snyderhealth.com/
Reply:he probably has hyperhydrosis.

talk to your doctor about it.

good luck.
Reply:If he's on some kind of medication, that could be the problem.

At 14, if he's using drugs that you don't know about, they can cause a sweaty stink too... the body tries to rid itself of toxins by sweating.
Reply:Go to your family doctor!
Reply:i say you should take him a shower in tomatoe juice like when skunks spray people.
Reply:Take him to a doctor. Never try to self-diagnose. But, be positive, it may be something easily remedied.

Just a thought....Does he eat properly?
Reply:always on perfume
Reply:Watch what he eat. Extracts of proteins and oils from certain foods and spices remain in your body's excretions and secretions for hours after eating them and can impart and odor. Fish, cumin, curry, and garlic lead the list. Keep calm, Getting sexually excited or feeling anxious and nervous will make you perspire more, If you anticipate a situation that is likely to upset you. no matter how much you're meditating or practicing deep breathing consider using an extra does of deodorant that morning
Reply:Please take him to the doctor for real and make sure that he takes a bath every all day.

Im 21 yrs old and my hands have always sweated so bad I can remember as a kid I had to hold hands with everyon

e in a group and no one wanted to hold my hands bc they sweat so much. I even picked a carreer that didnt involve me wearing gloves like a nurse or doctor bc my hands will literally drip in there and i am not exaggerating. AS im typing there is sweat drips on the key board. And my underarms and feet sweat really bad its not even a normal sweat. Its like im going through menopause but im so young. I know i have hyperhidrosis excessive sweating but i cant live like this what can i do. I cant afford the ETS surgery and im not sure about the botox injection. but i want to be a dental hygienist and i know i cant work on ppls mouth with my sweat drippin at my gloves. No funny answers im already sensitive about this. What should I really do??

Im 21 yrs old and my hands have always sweated so bad I can remember as a kid I had to hold hands with everyon
Thats a really tough one I dated a girl that had that same problem. I thought shetook medicine for it never found out though. I think surgery is your only recourse. One thing that I have done before going out on a date and hand holding was an issue is get a really strong "anti-perspirant" and put it on your hands. That was you don't sweat so much from your hands. Sorry to hear about that. save up for the surgery.
Reply:It's hyperhydrosis and there isnt much you can do.

For sweaty pit problems Botox or drysol is your best bet. For the rest of your body try sweat bands or cloth wipes. Women departments have tons for face and body. Dont be ashamed to use them!
Reply:you may have one of these

Hyperhidrosis or Erythrophobia

either or you might want to see a doctor ..they can help you rid yourself of all the excess sweat.
Reply:I can kind of feel your pain because I sweat very, very easily! I keep an extra bar of deoderant in my drawer at work in case I need to re-apply. Are you by any chance drinking caffeine that causes this happen? I blame everything abnormal to be related to caffeine intake and/or stress. Are you overweight? That will cause a fluctuation in your hormones and body temperature. Or, can it be anxiety? Do you have trouble sleeping? I don't know what else to tell you if it is none of those things, but maybe you will grow out of it. And, I think you need to address this problem with a real doctor. Good luck honey. LOL
Reply:BOTOX! it helped my cousin who sweated so bad even when it was winter %26amp; snow on the ground. We use to pick at her, but now I see it is really a serious problem for a lot of people. It will help on your face %26amp; arm pits %26amp; they can tell you what you will need for the rest of your body. Good luck!
Reply:ok as you know you problem and you know the answer for that lemme give you an advice you have to be practical wat i mean you know that sweat is water so you have to treat your self as follow drink much water as you could even fill your stomach till you feel you gonna throwup just befor sleeping and when you awake also drink at least 2 cubs of water that way youu will force your body to get red of excecve water through pee and that way you will limit the amount of water in your body and then you have to start using the bowder to suck the sweat from your hands time and time and there is some creams that used in the fasials treatment helps cosing the sweatting bores you can use that too

hope that helped

What causes sweaty feet and palms?

my feet and hands sweat all day, and then stop when i am sleeping. i know about hyperhidrosis, but could it be something else besides that? i am not nervous all of the time, but i am a lot. is it caused by stress? because i dont think that would make my feet sweat...

What causes sweaty feet and palms?
Some people said it's hereditary but I never recall anyone having this problem in the family. Based on my experience (I had it since kindergarten), stress only made it even worse. Normally, I would just sweat for no reason.

I had a surgery last year (after having it almost 25 years) and my palms don't get sweaty anymore.
Reply:When your hot (hot meaning warm/hot) your body will sweat to try to make yourself cool off.
Reply:It can be emotions, estrogen levels or just the way your sweat glands are. Some people sweat profusely. Ask your MD. You'll see.
Reply:actually, it could be a nerve disorder.

and they have surgery to correct it. but its really dangerous.

try like.. a hand cream or osmething.
Reply:excess salt in diet.

Is this normal? Girls-Women ONLY!?

Ok.. I'm 10 and im turning 11 in April..I am very early for everthing!!!! Example(s) : I already got my period...I got my armpit hair...And i got leg and arm hair.A lot and I got a lot of hair..Like...EVERYWHERE! Oh..and i sweat alot..I think i have hyperhidrosis except i dont know..Is this normal for me? please help me!!

Is this normal? Girls-Women ONLY!?
I felt the same way when I was your age and im 26! Yes its normal, some people are just hairier than others and some sweat more. I used to think I had a hormone imbalance because I had so much hair! I have hair on my back on my stomach and on my butt!! Its just a light coating, like peach fuzz but its still there. It will get better as you get older. Dont worry about it, you're fine!
Reply:yes. It only means that you will be more stronger than the average girl. I had the same thing going on with me 5 years ago. It's a benefit, trust me.
Reply:Perfectly normal. Since you are going through puberty so much earlier than your friends, boys will definately start to notice you first.
Reply:Honey, already I am impressed at the fact you seek out answers to very difficult questions. Having said that, because you are experiencing such early developments, you need to consult a doctor. They'll need to be sure everything is OK and be able to answer the vast amount of questions you will no doubt encounter.
Reply:Don't worry about it. I know someone who got their period in 3rd grade. She has pretty big jugs. She is gorgeous though, she is a model and the prettiest girl I know. You'll turn out like her.
Reply:Big words confuse me... Anyway it's just that your body's matureing faster then the rest of your classmates are. Nothing to worry about... In fact, I could win you some bets! (The strength thing, I mean)
Reply:You sound like a very healthy young lady and everything that you have described is indicative of that.

Going through puberty is awkward and uncomfortable for both boys and girls, but if you feel that something is bothering you and you are worried, talk to your mother or a trusted family member.
Reply:Listen to 'prettymama', she's very correct.

I would have voted hers 'best answer' but I'm not at level 2 yet.

(And in case you're reading this prettymama-I'm a health care professional who thought your answer was excellent but could not send an e-mail to let you know).
Reply:yah it's normal...

your cute and i wouldn't care about sweaty hands
Reply:your beautiful. dont worry youll find a boyfriend. you got plenty of time. :)
Reply:yes, i think you will =) you're cute!!! and the sweaty palms thing is kinda cute too... =) hang in there girl, someone good will come your way...it's okay to be shy, actually, some guys prefer shy girls over girls who are show-offs or obnoxious, 15 is just a really hard age to be...but i promise, you'll be fine
Reply:Honey, you are beautiful, and the older and more mature you get, the more beautiful you will become. Just have inner confidence, and this will show through.

You're 15 - that's hardly a 40-something old maid that needs to get married and pregnant soon before her eggs dry up and she dies old and lonely. Give yourself some time, nurture yourself and your hobbies, and enjoy time with friends. A time will come when boys are bountiful and you will find yourself one or several boyfriends - it's called college.

About the palms, try some body talc. I'm sure you've tried everything in the book, but that's the only suggestion I could come up with. You'll be fine - just have a little patience and learn to love yourself.
Reply:Girl Please ... you will have so may guys that you will have to beat them off with a stick.

Just be friendly, polite and kind, keep up with your work and have your eyes on a bright future.

Like attracts like ...
Reply:someone will come into your life that likes u for u not what u look like or the sweatiness of ur hands. So yes eventually
Reply:I'm not just saying this for the sake of it - you are GENUINELY pretty. You haven't gone mad with the make-up and you've obviously got nothing to worry about there. To be honest, I dunno why you don't have guys lining up to be with you. :/ I guess it's not you - just the guys you're with at school. I'm sure you'll be more lucky once everyone's matured a bit - just give it time. (:

As for the sweaty hands? Don't sweat it. (...Sorry, bad pun. :p) Seriously though, people have worse problems!

Best of luck for the future.

you are beautiful too.

the only guy I liked hated me.

the guys are stupid you have to wait for a mature one.
Reply:your pretty hot and you seeem to have a good personality. just ask a guy u like out and he might say yes, if not then keep trying
Reply:try and enjoy yourself, your not ugly, dont stress out about getting a boyfriend, and he will come, sweaty hands arent a very big deal. dont worry about it a lot.
Reply:15 is not old enough to be fretting about never having a boyfriend. when you're 35, then you can worry.

you're quite cute and shyness is not always a negative aspect.

as far as the sweaty palms, just explain it and if he's worth being with, he'll understand.
Reply:you could totally get a boyfriend!!! your not even close to ugly!!! just be your self
Reply:In my opinion, sweaty hands are no reason to leavea girl unless the guy is really insecure himself. Also, I am currently in the same boat (wanting a girl friend though) and am skeptic of myself. Personally I think that you are pretty despite what you may think. Just try and keep your chin up and keep up your grades, in the future when you are successful, guys will be all over you (you probably will develop a little more by then too). Anyways, get out there and make friends, just remember that not having a girl friend at 15 is alright, I did it and I'm perfectly fine.
Reply:You are not ugly. You are a pretty girl. I think you will be able to get a lot of boyfriends. Just let them come to you. Your smartness should win any guys heart. if I was a guy I would want a smart girl as a girlfriend. I don't think you sweaty hands would ruin anything. It's a condition you have to live with. It's not like you wanted them to be like that. If he doesn't except that. Then he's not a good boyfriend. So by your prettiness and your smartness I think any guy will fall for you. Have a nice day!

People think I am pretty.

I don't think so though.

Reply:Looks shouldn't matter in a relationship... of course, a lot of guys don't feel that way. But that won't really matter with you, because you're very cute. If he really likes you, your condition won't matter to him. And trust me... 15 is nowhere near being an old maid!
Reply:WAAAHHH makes me sad too. You are so pretty! I'm the same age as you, and I've enever had a boyfriend either. I have a stalker ( does that kinda count as a boy liking me?) tht wont stop calling me, but no BF's yet. My BFF's have not had ANY bf's yet, so im just telling you, you aint alone. I know you've probably heard this one before, but take it from me; boys don't ever go for the good girls, they go for the easy ones. When they mature, they'll come around. Best of luck, and wish me luck.

Cheers, gabbie.

And so are you.

Look at 15 I didn't have a BF either. Its OK!

Where will i be able to buy underarm sweat shields..?

other than online? Do they sell them at pharmacies? I have hyperhidrosis and I think these would help stop the sweat stains on my shirts. What stores sell underarm shields? Oh and I've tried Certain Dri, Secret Clinical Strength etc.. and I still have sweat stains!

Where will i be able to buy underarm sweat shields..?
I don`t know about sweat shields, but try dry-sol, you`ll need a RX, check out my answer to another question from "beauty " .You will be extremely pleased.

How do I cure my sweaty hands?

I am a teenager and suffer from hyperhidrosis. It is RUINING my life and I can't take it anymore. I have tried two medicines: Drysol and Maxim hand wipes. Neither of them have worked. It is humiliating at church and at school. I have suffered with it all through elementary school and middle school and I have sworn that I am not living with this anymore, and that it would not get in the way of my highschool experience. Please someone help me if there is any doctors out there offering help, it would be much appreciated. I have told my parents and they try to help but when a new medicine doesnt work they just give up and tell me to stop complaining! They just don't understand what I have to go through every single day. Please I know miracles can happen. please... someone help. I pray every night over this. Someone please... answer my prayer.

Maxim antiperspirant. Not the handwipes. http://www.stopsweat.com/item/Maxim

Worked for me.

Is my Certain Dri working?

I believe I have Axillary Hyperhidrosis where I sweat a lot just under my arms. So I just bought Certain Dri but I read that for everyone it burns.. I haven't had that problem at all. It hasn't even stopped my perspiration.. I've only been using it for 3 days but why doesn't it even tingle? Does it not tingle/burn for some? I'm thinking maybe it was on the shelf too long and expired?? I'm lost :(

Is my Certain Dri working?
I have used Certain Dri before and it helped for some time then it stopped working.

I recently discovered Secret's Clinical Strength anti-perspirant. It is like a Certain Dri but it is a dry roll on. I absolutely love this stuff. It smells great and it does the trick. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey....maybe $5-7 per container. However, it's the best $7 I've spent in a while. I wouldn't trade it for Certain Dri any day!

Here is what it looks like in case you would like to buy it (I bought mine at WalMart)

http://www.secret.com/ClinicalStrength.d...

Good luck and all the best!

EDIT:

Ohhhh, you've tried it already! Well then..dang, I don't know what else to say but to go to your doctor and have him/her perscribe you something. I think that's the only way you will see positive results.

P.S Certain Dri did not burn for me. It did not tingle either. It just felt like a cool strip of water on my skin until it dried completely.
Reply:I use Certain Dri and it works for me. But yes, if you get it on the sides of the arm pit, like where the muscle is, it burns and it should for everyone. I do not know for sure, but I believe they do expire because mine did that too. I bought another bottle of Certain Dri and it worked. So my suggestion would be buy another because they really do work. (I would normally sweat terribly, so I never wore tight shirt or any colored shirt that would show it..kind of depressing.)
Reply:Check the date to see if it is expired, I think it is printed on the bottle. I have used Certain Dri many times and I think it works really well. I would say probably 3/4 of the time it burns but then there are time when it does not burn at all. If I were you I would check the date to see if it is expired, if it is take it back to the store you got it from and try a new bottle. If you notice that it is still not working you should look into the new Secret deodorant, that have a new one out that is called Secret Clinical Strength. It is a little expensive, I think like $7.00, but they claim it works really well. The box says that it is prescription strength. I have never tried it so I am not sure, but it might be worth a shot!
Reply:i've been using it for a couple of days and it doesn't burn or itch for me either, but it does reduce my sweating.

make sure your armpits are COMPLETELY dry (like 100%) before you apply certain dri.

Any teens with exessive sweating?

Hey everyone,

Any teens with exessive sweating?
thanks

I am losing all hope that I will ever be cured...?

I am really sad right now because for the past 2 years, I have had hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and recently I started to have a problem with body odor. It will never go away no matter what I do and I have tried everything! I am starting to lose hope that I will ever be back to normal and it is ruining my entire life! I always feel like a freak and I can't ever let myself get close to anyone! I always like to be like 30 feet away from people. I tried countless regular deodorants, then I tried Certain Dri, then Maxim, and I've also tried pills, then for my b.o. problem I tried Clindamycin, which is an antibiotic. Now I am trying Body Mint (which is Chlorophyll), and after 4 days now there is barely an improvement. The only things I haven't done are drastic measures, like surgery. I am just starting to lose all hope and I can never leave the house and I am going on a few trips later this summer but I may not go b/c of this. It is taking a big toll on my life....

I am losing all hope that I will ever be cured...?
Have you tried Botox injections? They help paralyze the sweat gland to prevent the excretion of sweat. It doesn't matter what you are doing, it is just covering up the problem. until you take care of the hyperhidrosis, the sweat and the smell will continue. Good Luck to you.
Reply:with all the money you have spent on all those products you could have just about paid for the surgery......suggest you channel your funds to that end.

What's an effective way to lose fat around my stomach and love handles, while building muscle?

Ok, I'm 16 years old, 6'0'' and weigh about 165 pounds. I know that that's in the average weight range, but I've always been upset about having fat around my stomach and love handles area.

Anyway, I was curious about effective ways to lose weight around that area. I'm not much of a cardio person, since I have low endurance and I have hyperhidrosis, causing me to sweat very excessively and easily.

Is it bad to do sit ups, or some kind of abdominal exercise in my current state? Wouldn't it just make me appear as if I have a bigger stomach?

But then I question that, because I always thought muscles used fat as energy, so if I gained muscle underneath the fat, wouldn't the fat eventually disappear?

Getting back to the cardio idea, if I attempted something like daily jogs, would it be a good idea to jog in the morning on an empty stomach, right when I wake up? Because in that sense, wouldn't your body use your current fats as energy, instead of any food that's currently digesting?

What's an effective way to lose fat around my stomach and love handles, while building muscle?
Loosing those love handles, I would suggest cutting out all white foods (sugar, rice, bread %26amp; fried foods). I would eat organic when you can from all food groups %26amp; drink @ least 6-8 glasses of water per day, more if you exercise.

Doing spot reducing %26amp; jogging is a good idea, do something that you know, you will con't doing. I wouldn't run without having something in your stomach, you need nourishment to exercise (eat something small like a banana).

Your stomach won't appear bigger, getting muscles will trim your stomach, remember muscles weighs more than fat.

As your fat is replaced with lean muscles, you might weigh more but look thinner.

Your fat will diminish through exercise, it takes a while for your body to absorb the stored up fat. If you don't eat, your body will go into starvation mode %26amp; you won't lose the weight. Remember you need to eat to lose weight. :)
Reply:I don't think there is any such exercise that only makes you lose weight in one area of your body.

Exercise and eating less is the only way to do it. Try something simple like walking for exercise.

I don't know if the timing will help lose more weight or not. I know eating sugar and fat together will make you hold onto more fat. Sugar tells your body to store fat. And, gosh, the fat is right there to be stored!
Reply:I think a great method for you that would address all your problems would be to take up swimming ... great cardio, great core/whole body workout, you can combine it with weight training to build muscle mass and you don't have to worry about sweating.
Reply:Cardio is the best way to lose fats. Try going to a gym on a free trial and see if you can have an assessment done; a personal trainer can suggest activities for you based on your goals and body type. Or if you'd like, you can re-post this question later and I'll get back to you - I can't do it off the top of my head.

As for your last question, no, not at all. It makes no difference when you eat, it burns it all the same. And besides, the energy you use has been there for a while; digesting food is not even close to being fully broken down into usable parts, so it would not affect you at all. Not to mention, if you're starving, you may make yourself nauseous by overworking.
Reply:You don't need to run on an empty stomache to get results. Eat foods low in fat and high in protein. Run, bike or swim. Get into a routine and stick to it! Swimming is low impact and will do wonders for burning fat all over the body. Bottom line, there is no easy way. If you want to burn fat YOU MUST do Cardio. Once you get into a routine you will probably enjoy it.
Reply:the best thing for you would be swimming, if you have issues with sweating then youll have no issue submerged in water, swimming works out all parts of your body very well, the area around your waist will dissapear first just as it appeared first, its just an area that the body tends to store fat in. so no you will not get a bigger stomach as you build muscle ,the fat will burn as the muscles are built. bar non swimming is one the the BEST workouts for toning and weight loss, plain ole sit ups and push ups will help build some more mass.
Reply:try one of those body cleansing systems i heard they work well you can get them from health food stores good luck
Reply:The fat will eventually disappear of you exclude it from your food.( But that makes food not taste as good. ) And keep doing the exercise thing.

The best exercise is usually to do the steps with high inclinations on the step-machine. But I dont know how well you'd be able to handle that.

Another thing that really works is when you exercise on the weight pushing machine (I don;t know how it;s called). It's where you lie down on your back and push heavy weights with your feet. That really works. Try to do it after all your other exercising when all your muscles are really warmed up.
Reply:Alright,

You already have muscle on your stomach. Hell, you got a six-pack believe it or not, and sit-ups would build up that six pack, but wouldn't make the layer of fat covering them to necessarily disapear.

Running is very good cardio and burns alot of fat. What i would suggest is (I know it's hard as a teenager) go to sleep at 10 PM (9 PM would be best, but, I know that's pushing it), then wake up at 6 PM (or 7 PM if you don't have to work or go to school) and first thing, don't even get dressed, but stretch for approx. 5 minutes. Get your jogging stuff on, pop your vitamin pill, then go run for a minimum of 20 mins.

At night, 2-3 hours before you go to sleep, and about 1 - 2 hours after you eat, do simple exercises like push-ups and sit-ups. This keeps your body in a good shape.

Also invest into a multi-vitamin (taken in the morning) and garlic pills. Why? Because garlic helps your immune system and metabolism. When you work out, your immune system becomes weaker, and becoming sick while trying to train and lose wait, is not what's ideal. Word of advice, take the pill before you go to sleep. No odor the next morning, and you won't kill people with your breath.

Explanation : The sleep provides 8-9 hours of rest, which is ideal for a teenager. Also, the more hours before midnight, the better sleep and rest you get. The jog on an empty stomach gets your system in motion and thus when you eat breakfast, your metabolism is already moving and your breakfast won't sit in your stomach. the nightly exersice keeps a well balance on your body, while building endurance.

The pills: Health. Multivitams help your immune system, metabolism, and body overal. And the garlic does as previously mentioned.

Hope this helps mate.

This is SO embarassing but...?

Hi, I am posting this b/c I have a condition called hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) in my underarms, and I usually don't have an odor or a scent, but for some reason I am having this problem since yesterday! It is really bad- and I have good hygiene and I already but it's not working- and this stuff is like the best thing you can use if you have an odor problem. And Idon't know why this is happening! I just showered. My doctor gave me an antibiotic gel to put on incase I ever have this problem. I've used it like 3 times already! I also had this problem one day a long time ago and it worked then, so I'm not sure why it isn't working now. My question is could it be something that I ate yesterday? I usually have a good diet, but my mom is out of town and we don't have much food in the house- so I ordered out TWICE yesterday. They were kind of spicy foods but it was italian I think and I also ordered pizza. I usually don't eat that bad but I was home alone and had to eat something.

This is SO embarassing but...?
sometimes what you eat causes the smell. dont worry. just cover it up with that cream and spray on some perfume. most people wont even notice it is just that it is on you so you smell it more. if it doesnt go away by tomorrow then i might talk to your doctor if i were you.
Reply:dont freak out. u will make it worse. and put loads of perfume on i guess.
Reply:To prevent excessive sweating try taking sea salt. Dissolve 1/4 tsp sea salt to a quart of water and take it regularly as follows: 2 glasses upon waking up in the morning. 1 glass=8 ounces, 1 glass half hr before meals, 1 glass 2 and a half hr after meals and 2 glasses at bedtime. Salt helps retain water in ur body and therefore prevents excess sweating...Altho, the body normally sweats excessively during warm weather.
Reply:By the way, you have Axillary Hyperhidrosis (Excessive sweating of the underarms) and, I think you may have answered you own question in the end. The spicy food did it. lolz. You have to be careful to stay away from spicy food, as it make even the normal sweater....sweat.

Good Luck.

Potential causes of hyperhidrosis

The cause of primary (focal) hyperhidrosis is not known. However, secondary hyperhidrosis can have numerous causes. Depending on the type of hyperhidrosis, causes can range from emotions (e.g., stress) to a serious underlying medical disorder (e.g., heart disease, tuberculosis). One of the more common causes includes heredity. Individuals who are genetically predisposed to hyperhidrosis often have sweaty palms and feet.

Spicy foods and hot beverages, and those containing caffeine and alcohol, can also trigger hyperhidrosis, as can some types of drugs (e.g., certain antipsychotic medications). Hyperhidrosis can also result from overdose of an analgesic (e.g., aspirin, acetaminophen) or hormonal factors, such as hot flashes caused by menopause, or reduced levels of the male hormone testosterone (in men).
Reply:Not sure if you heard of this...but if you really the sweating i just read an article on a treatment. You can get Botox injections in your underarms and they will stop sweating excessively. Hope this helps!
Reply:um....i have one word for u...DEODERENT.

i've gone through all the same stuff. good luck!

What does NHS Cover?

Does the NHS cover Botox injections for Hyperhidrosis? If not does any know the costs involved privately, and how often it needs to be done. Thank you in advance for any answers!

What does NHS Cover?
It may be available in your area on the NHS for this valid and non-cosmetic indication, provided the condition is severe and you are not too young.
Reply:Yes I'm sure they do cover this if it is interferring significantly with your life!
Reply:i don't know if they cover botox. go and se your GP and they will tell you. if not, to go privete will probably cost a lot.
Reply:Yes it does if the doctor considers a medical need. You will have to be referred to a dermatologist who will assess your condition and offer the injections if suitable for your condition. To have it done privately would cost around £200 depending on the amount of injecting needed and usually this needs to be repeated every 3 - 6 months to maintain clinical effectiveness.

Excessive Sweating! Help!?

I am a nineteen year old female. I am 5'8 and weight about 130 pounds. I eat healthy, exercise and drink lots of water. I have excessive underarm sweat! I know that its called hyperhidrosis.

I was wondering if there is anything natural that I can do to stop this. I mean sweating is fine: when you work out or exert yourself. I wake up and start sweating. I only wear black shirts and they only last about three months until they are ruined. I have tried lots of deodorants and Certain Dri. I want something to just stop it. I feel like I cant be myself and I am scared to get close to people and tell them about myself....the more I get nervous and scared the more I sweat! Its a cycle! I hate it! Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions about what I can use? Preferablly healthy or all natural methods.

Thank you!

Excessive Sweating! Help!?
Lab Studies

Search for primary causes if generalized hyperhidrosis is noted.

Important laboratory studies may include the following:

Thyroid function tests may reveal underlying hyperthyroidism or thyrotoxicosis.

Blood glucose levels may reveal diabetes mellitus or hypoglycemia.

Urinary catecholamines may reveal a possible pheochromocytoma.

Uric acid levels may reveal gout.

A purified protein derivative (PPD) test can be performed to screen for tuberculosis.

Imaging Studies

Chest radiography may be used to rule out tuberculosis or a neoplastic cause.

Therapy can be challenging for both the patient and the physician. Both topical and systemic medications have been used. Other treatment options include iontophoresis and botulinum toxin injections.

Topical agents include topical anticholinergics, boric acid, 2-5% tannic acid solutions, resorcinol, potassium permanganate, formaldehyde (which may cause sensitization11), glutaraldehyde, and methenamine. Drysol (20% aluminum chloride hexahydrate in absolute anhydrous ethyl alcohol is usually the most effective topical agent. Drysol should be applied nightly on dry skin with or without occlusion until a positive result is obtained, after which the intervals between applications may be lengthened. To minimize irritation, the remainder of the medication should be washed off when the patient awakes, and the area may be neutralized with the topical application of baking soda.10

Systemic agents used to treat hyperhidrosis include anticholinergic medications. Anticholinergics such as propantheline bromide, glycopyrrolate, oxybutynin, and benztropine are effective because the preglandular neurotransmitter for sweat secretion is acetylcholine (although the sympathetic nervous system innervates the eccrine sweat glands). The use of anticholinergics may be unappealing because their adverse effect profile includes mydriasis, blurry vision, dry mouth and eyes, difficulty with micturition, and constipation. In addition, other systemic medications, such as sedatives and tranquilizers, indomethacin, and calcium channel blockers, may be beneficial in the treatment of palmoplantar hyperhidrosis.

Iontophoresis was introduced in 1952 and consists of passing a direct current across the skin.12 The mechanism of action remains under debate. In palmoplantar hyperhidrosis, the daily treatment of each palm or sole for 30 minutes at 15-20 mA with tap water iontophoresis is effective.13 Intact skin can endure 0.2-mA/cm2 galvanic current without negative consequences, and as much as 20-25 mA per palm may be tolerated.13 Numerous agents have been used to induce hypohidrosis, including tap water and anticholinergics; however, treatment with anticholinergic iontophoresis is more effective than tap water iontophoresis.14

Botulinum toxin injections are effective because of their anticholinergic effects at the neuromuscular junction and in the postganglionic sympathetic cholinergic nerves in the sweat glands.

In palmar hyperhidrosis, 50 subepidermal injections of 2 mouse units per palm (total 100 mouse units per palm) results in anhydrosis lasting 4-12 months.15 Each injection produces an area of anhydrosis approximately 1.2 cm in diameter. The only adverse effect is mild transient thumb weakness that resolves within 3 weeks.

In a similar study, the effects of sodium chloride solution injections in one palm were compared with botulinum toxin injections in the other palm.16 Treatment with 120 mouse units of botulinum toxin (injected into 6 sites in the palm) resulted in a 26% reduction in sweat production after 3 and 8 weeks and a 31% reduction after 13 weeks. Noted adverse effects included minor muscle weakness at the toxin-treated sites, which resolved after 2-5 weeks. Injections of botulinum toxin must be repeated at varying intervals to maintain long-term results.

Treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxin type A reconstituted in lidocaine or in normal saline was described in a randomized, side-by-side, double-blind study.17 The results were the same; however, injections of botulinum toxin A reconstituted in lidocaine are associated with significantly reduced pain, thus, lidocaine-reconstituted botulinum toxin A may be preferable for treating axillary hyperhidrosis.
Reply:You could baby powder your under arms...or wear an undershirt i dont really think you can do anything about it...some people sweat more than others!
Reply:I hear you I have the same problem, they say Botox works or there is apparently a surgical procedure that works. I read about sage tea but I havent tried that yet, maybe research that one. I saw that Secret has a new anti strength deodarant as well, it works not too bad.
Reply:I use Drysol, which is a prescription. It works amazingly and isn't expensive (there are a bunch of generics). You only have to use it once or twice a week.
Reply:Botox injections are a good idea in your case. They are not permanent and they last a few months at a time so you would have to get them again, but the sweating progressively gets less and less. I believe you can even get your insurance to pay for some of it or all of it, since you have an actual condition that affects your everyday life.

Good Luck!!
Reply:im so sorry i have never heard of a natural cure but you can gaet botox in jected in to your arm pits to stop sweating but i wouldnt recomend it
Reply:A table spoon of high strength liquid chlorophyll every day will help as it deodorises your perspiration before it comes out of your pores.

It also cools your body so you will perspire a bit less.

How do you reduce or get rid of sweaty palms/feet?

I suffer from something called Palmar Hyperhidrosis that affects 1% of the US population (poor me, being stuck in the 1% zone) Are there any home remedies that can get rid of it? I heard putting used tea bags on your hands will help it. But i dunno.. Baby powder maybe? It's really embarassing when I go to school and stuff too. It gets me so paranoid that I avoid all my friends and just be emo? Jk, but I HATE IT. Please someone help..

How do you reduce or get rid of sweaty palms/feet?
i have the same problem

haaha lets be emo
Reply:soak them in tea for twenty minutes a day for like 2 weeks and it should reduce it
Reply:See your doctor there are some prescription meds that will help you with that issue. You could try putting a splash of Clorox in about 1 gallon or so of watter it will dry then out. Then after soaking for 15 min. rinse off and dry. Remember I said a splash NOT just Clorox or you can burn your skin.
Reply:once to twice a day soak your feet in a bucket of tea. Just feel a bucket with water and put a couple tea packets in and tada your feet will reduce in sweating in 1-2 weeks. The tea releases antioxidants which close the pours in your skin, thus reducing the sweating. Also baby powder will soak up any extra moister.
Reply:My friend has that problem too, her hands are constantly sweaty, and when they're not wet, they're clammy. Go to your doctor, or use deodorant on your hands.

Can using a medicine for ulcers when you don't have an ulcer give you one?

Hi, I have a condition called hyperhidrosis (it is where you have excessive sweating), and my doctor prescribed a pill medicine called Glycopyrrolate. The medicine is for ulcers, but it produces side effects that decreases sweating, so that is why she prescribed it. I have been taking it since the beginning of March, and for the past week my stomach has been aching everyday. I've never had this kind of ache before and it hurts in near my abdomen, in between my rib cages. It hurts when I'm hungry and also when I'm done eating. It doesn't hurt a lot, but it is bothering me and I was wondering if it is from taking this medicine. I guess I'm asking if taking a medicine for ulcers can actually give you one if you never had an ulcer in the first place? Also, do my symptoms sound like they are from an ulcer? Please help if you can, thanks :)

Can using a medicine for ulcers when you don't have an ulcer give you one?
No, it can't give you an ulcer. Probably, though, the medication is just hard on your stomach. It happens often times with prescription medications. You should ask your doctor about it and see if she could prescribe something milder maybe.

I have an ulcer and discussed medication for it, however was told that oftentimes these medications can just cause side effects that are as bad as what they treat. Lots of ulcer medications are especially hard to digest so that they can stay in the stomach longer and do more good for the ulcer.

Ulcers burn and usually they do so enough to affect daily life. It isn't an ache but more sharp pain or a burning sensation. They also tend to cause nausea if they are in the stomach and hurt worse when the stomach is empty. If drinking a glass of milk or eating yogurt makes your stomach ache go away, it might be an ulcer.

Otherwise it just sounds like a bad side effect of the medication itself. Might try to find something easier on your stomach. Upset stomach is a listed side effect of this medication so you might want to check out other things that might be related to taking it.

Good luck.

Should i tell him? or will it be weird?

I really liek this named Matt, and he likes me too. If we go out, i will have a slight problem. I wont be able to hold his hand because i have palmar hyperhidrosis (exessively sweaty hands) I ahve heard that he also has clammy hands, but i dont knwo if its true. but i hope it is because he will understand my problem. Should i just tell him so that it wont be weird if he tries to hold my hand?

Should i tell him? or will it be weird?
No, don't tell him. If he notices then tell him...

My palms and soles of my feet sweat all the time. Anyone know of something that might help? No surgery, OTC?
Hi there--Extreme sweating (hyperhidrosis) can be treated by a dermatologist. There are new and effective treatments out there, so you really don't need to deal with this all by yourself.

Go to the International Hyperhidrosis Society's web site wwwSweatHelp.org you can learn all about the condition (which, by the way affects 176 million people world wide, and is thought to be genetic--thanks mom!), and the treatment choices you have. You can also find a doc there that is familiar with HH plus subscribe to a newsletter that will let you know when there are new developments, and/or how to get free stuff.

To treat palmar (hand) and plantar (foot) HH you basically have these options:

1.) Strong anti-perspirants like Secret Clinical Strength (used RIGHT makes all the difference. Check out the IHHS site for tips)

2.) Iontophoresis (works for like 80% of people who try it, but you need to get a prescription for the best machine (RA Fischer) and learn how to use it correctly. You can do this on you own at home which is very cool)

3.) Botox (lasts for at least 6 months and insurance often pays. But for your hands, it's key to find a dermatologist that knows how to do it pain-free.)

4.) Combination of the above for the best (and most cost effective) plan for you.

Don't consider surgery because of the crazy risks associated with it like compensatory sweating (massive sweating on large parts of your body) plus other complications that are way too common for my comfort level. Plus, if you're a guy and you get surgery for your plantar HH, you have the added risk of impotence. Nice, right? And don't believe the hype that it's reversible. There have been no reported, published cases of reversals being successful.

If you're a teen you can contact support@SweatHelp.org and ask for their Teen Sweat book, they will send it to you free. It has great info and how-tos to make excessive sweat a thing of the past. Remember, there are no cures--YET. But there are good options to manage the sweatiness. Good luck fellow sweater!

PS: the e-books that are out there are totally bogus, btw.

Why are some illnesses accepted by society why others aren't?

Most people will never make fun of a person in a wheelchair but the same people will laugh at someone who stutters. Also most will never joke about cancer but the same people will laugh about jokes that is about people being in an institution. Mental illness is less acceptable than most physical illnesses. Also bad breath, body odor, and flatulence can be because of disease. This isn't the only disease that can cause B.O but TMAU is the worst it can make you smell like garbage, feces, fish, or even marijuana smoke. Most of the time the odor can be helped with diet but sometimes that doesn't help. Also there is bromhidrosis, hyperhidrosis, other conditons. Bad breath can be caused by TMAU, gum disease, etc. Most of the time people never know what is causing the breath problems. Flatulence can be caused by IBD, IBS, spastic colon, etc. Go to www.youtube.com/edwardianbeauty.

Why are some illnesses accepted by society why others aren't?
There are those who CAN'T help their disabilities and there are those who WON'T help their disabilities. For every person who suffers from bad breath, B.O., flatulence, etc., because of a difficult-to-treat illness or condition, there are ten who refuse to brush their teeth, bathe, clean their homes, or do their laundry regularly. Many mental illnesses are treatable, and many more are "created" by people who want to have a treatable "problem" rather than take responsibility for what's really going wrong in their lives.

Kudos to you for getting the message out there that sometimes people can't help having these conditions, though. Tolerance is something we all need to have more of, and awareness is the first step towards tolerance.
Reply:People behave according to their psyche, knowledge and misconceptions. Perhaps some of them think (unconsciously) that people get disabilities voluntarily. One should never forget that anyone can fall sick and suffer from any disease. Given the choice, everyone would love to stay healthy and young forever. Sick persons need to be helped, not laughed at. Laugh with them, not at them. If someone laughs at a sick/disabled person, he/she is only pitiable and needs to be educated.

Do you sweat excessively..all the time??

Hi all,

I sweat a lot and it's a medical condition. I have no control over it. My hands, feet, and underarm areas fill with sweat. I am very uncomfortable due to this condition.

Have you or anybody gotten treated for hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating? Please let me. I appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Do you sweat excessively..all the time??
Hey there--You should know that at least 3% of the population suffers from hyperhidrosis and that it appears to be genetically linked. Scientists at Einstein Medical Center and St Louis University are working on figuring out how that happens and when they do, a cure will be possible. But until that fine day, there are treatments that can manage your sweating really well. You just have to work at it, and find a good dermatologist that is up on all the latest research and options. The best place to find them is at the International Hyperhidrosis Society's web site (SweatHelp.org). They have docs listed from all over the world, so you should be able to find one near you. Plus, they educate docs and the public about the various treatment options and best techniques. If you go to the Treatments section of their website you'll see a matrix that shows the area of the body and the treatment options available. Then you can read about the different options so you're totally educated when you go see your doc.

I also see that they have a newsletter and a recent story talked about a new anti-perspirant product called Secret Clinical Strength. Apparently this product can be used anywhere to *help* manage the sweating. There's even a link in the newsletter story that gets you a free sample. Might be worth a try while you're waiting for your derm appointment :-) Good luck fellow sweater!

Why do my hands sweat so much and how can i stop it?

My hands sweat all the time, my feet kinda do too. Its not really due to being nervous because I can be sittin down typing up a homework assignment and they can be almost dripping. Then at some points when I am nervous it gets worse, like its hard to shake hands with people cause of it. I think what I have may be called hyperhidrosis, i tried something called drysol but that didnt work. Anyone have this condition or think they do and can help. I mean real solutions nothing weak like put baby powder on hands or keep a paper towel in my pocket cause those dont work

Why do my hands sweat so much and how can i stop it?
I recently advised someone with a similar problem... they liked the answer, I hope it will help you too!

Secret Clinical?

I have hyperhidrosis, and I heard about clinical strength and for a few days it worked, but it doesn't really work anymore. Or works just the same as if I used normal antipersperent. I don't know why

Secret Clinical?
Antiperspirants work by decreasing sweat production from the eccrine and apocrine sweat glands. Unfortunately most patients with hyperhidrosis do not find commercial non-medical antiperspirants or deodorants useful enough. One exception to this is Aluminum Chloride in high concentration found in over the counter products.

Drysol is a solution of 20% Aluminum Chloride in anhydrous ethyl alcohol. Drysol is a prescription only medication, which is moderately effective in treating palmar and axillary hyperhidrosis. However it may cause severe skin irritation. Drysol is applied to the affected areas and left on for 6 hours. This is best done at nighttime before going to sleep. The medication is then completely washed off the next morning. Initial success rates are good but long-term results are less satisfactory.

Xertac AC is another medical antiperspirant used in treating hyperhidrosis, but it is not as effective as Drysol. Tannic acid in ethanol and formalin solutions has also been used to treat hyperhidrosis but they have been associated with allergic sensitization. Other useful topical antiperspirants are Odaban and Maxim.

In general topical antiperspirants have to be applied at nights and work best if used with saran wrap or plastic gloves for maximal effect.
Reply:Often it is due to stress and anxiety... it becomes a vicious cycle. Begin ASAP to drink as much fresh water... (nothing else will do!) every day... at least 8-10 glasses a day!

The best thing you can do for yourself is to learn to relax, to just chill, no matter what you are doing or where you are... No one is worth doing this sort of damage to you and you can get rid of this problem if you just stop breaking your head about it... Antiperspirants aren't good for you and could even contribute to health problems. The only thing you need to do is practise proper hygiene and wash daily. A little sweat never hurt anyone and is a normal part of life. When you learn to stop sweating the small stuff, you'll stop sweating so much... Before bed tonight, or whenever you have time, read the sixth chapter of Matthew in your Bible and you'll see what I mean... Don't be anxious about anything... Just relax and let tomorrow take care of itself... Live in the present, enjoy the very moment you find yourself in... Cultivate the fruits of the spirit quoted at Galatians 5:21,22 and begin to love who you are in order to love others properly... It's possible that you might be living a rather difficult time in your life... stressful job maybe! do what you can to alleviate the obvious obstacle and then leave the rest to God as you pray in the name of his son Christ... Best wishes!

Any ways to help get rid of hand/underarm/feet SWEAT?

my friend sweats alot and it's not hyperhidrosis so she can't have surgery or botox or anything like that any thing powder/cream/anything SHE can do to help it stop? exspecially with her hands. PLEASE i want to help her!

Any ways to help get rid of hand/underarm/feet SWEAT?
I had the same problem! I went to the dermatologist and got some liquid medication that I put on every night. You can put it on your armpits, your hands and your face. It may sting at first but you'l get used to it and a little stinging isn't near as bad as sweating. Ask about Xerac AC or Drysol
Reply:you should wipe it on your neighboors dog

or what i do is take the sweat and collect it a jar and pour it in my fish tank

or sell it on ebay
Reply:Is it possible that she may be overweight?? because obesity can

cause of excessive sweating other than that try talcum powder or see a doctor
Reply:Tell your friend to go to her doctor, which is what I did, only for my hands. It can be used anyplace on your body including armpits. It needs to be perscribed but its called Hypercare, and you put it on every 2/3 nights. It works really well! But if you forget one day, expect to have huge sweat stains on your shirt!

I have a sweat problem that is probably due to stress ...maybe?

ya so im in middle school and i have a sweat problem, but only in school... when i get home im fine-so i dont think its hyperhidrosis or w/e its called- and i think its due to stress but im not sure. i use certain dri/b+drier but it hasnt worked for a while. does anyone think that its due to something else, if theres anything else i can use, or if theres a way to relieve the stress

I have a sweat problem that is probably due to stress ...maybe?
Examine what you may nervous about at school. Maybe the desire to be popular or to be an A student. Maybe the school counselor can help you work though your anxiety
Reply:I just answered this in another question. if its under your arms, and your in middle school, it might just be because your going through puberty and because of your hormones. It happens to me too. I use Adidas Action 3: its an anti-perspirant, deodorant, and an absorbant. it actually decreased the sweat in my shirts. don't use the gel kind, use the solid preferrably fitness fresh.

The guy i like just asked me out...HELP!!!!?

im really scared of having a boyfriend because i have a condition. I have palmar hyperhidrosis (excessively sweaty hands). What if he tries to hold my hand?

The guy i like just asked me out...HELP!!!!?
omg there's a condition for that!?! i think i have the same thing. try lotions. they actually do help. or go to your doctor and see if there's anything you can take to help lessen the sweating. there's also a surgical procedure to help stop sweaty hands. i wish you the best of luck and congrats!
Reply:If your going to date someone be upfront with them and if they freak out, theyre not the one for you. He will respect you and your condition. Make a joke of it, if he goes to hold hands say your making me so hot see my hands are sweating then laugh and say na i actually have a condition..... he should be sweet with it.

What is the best medicine to stop my palm&foot sweating?

i think this is hyperhidrosis, but all i want to know is how to solve this problem, without side effect.

What is the best medicine to stop my palm%26amp;foot sweating?
Excessive or profuse sweating is a medical condition with many possible causes. Because it is not a disease, it can be a symptom of another medical condition such as a disorder of the nerves.

Home remedy for sweaty hands or feet:

Boil five tea bags in a quart of water for five minutes. When the solution cools, soak your hands or feet for twenty to thirty minutes nightly. Tea contains tannic acid, which is also found in commercial products such as Zilactol, and Zilactin. The astringent properties of tannic acid are thought to be partly responsible for its antiperspirant action.
Reply:Hyperhidrosis would mean excessive sweating all over the body.

Increased sweating exclusively on the palms and feet is usually caused by anxiety (nervousness).

If you were asking specifically for a medication, I'd suggest Inderal 20mg, it's quite harmless and controls the situation pretty well.
Reply:I haven't heard of a medicine for that yet, but there are remedies, like foot talc or hand talc, alcohols can help too, and just talc... wash your hands or feet with a laundry soap , they are effective, I guess
Reply:Well, the best natural way to stop this kind of sweating is soaking the sweaty feet in Tannin Tea.

Tannin is a natural astringent found in Sage Tea.

Here's what you do.

1. But Sage Tea (it contains Tannin)

2. Fill a bowl with 2 cups of water

3. Throw in 2 or 3 tea bags.

4. Soak your feet for 15-20 minutes

5. Do this for 5 days straight and you'll notice a BIG difference
Reply:Its not a cure but I took my son to the doctors for the same thing. She recomended antiperspirant. Not deodorant but actual antiperspirant in an aerosol can. I haven't heard any more from him about it. He sprays his hands and feet.

I have a boil...?

i have a boil a little bit higher than my armpit.

its like a red patch, it hurts in the middle.

and i sweat, A LOT. i have hyperhidrosis, an nothing perscribed for it works.

obviously, i cant go to the doctor right now. i washed it with antibaterial soap, what else should i do?!

can this turn into staph?

I have a boil...?
Most boils are caused by the staph bacteria that already exists on your skin, when it gets into a pore or hair follicle and causes a localized infection. Actually, the best thing you can do for your spot is apply moist heat. Use a clean washcloth, dampen it and heat it up in the microwave, until it's as hot as you can stand it. Put it on the spot and hold it there until it cools to lukewarm. Repeat that as often as you can, and it will help encourage the boil to form a white center and drain itself. You don't need to use antibacterial soap, any plain soap is just fine- but at this point it just doesn't matter. Keep the spot covered with a bandage so the infection doesn't spread to a new spot, should it decide it's ready to drain. It will take a few days of heat applications to get to that point, and will get very sore before it does. Don't poke, prod or squeeze it to try to rid yourself of it sooner. If you rupture it beneath the skin, it will make matters worse. Leave it be in peace except the heat packs. The doctor will likely tell you the same thing, as they prefer to let the body do the draining. It heals better that way, and with less complications or scarring. If he has to incise it, you will then need antibiotics and will likely have a scar left. So just apply moist heat, and wait it out.
Reply:I would try to keep it as clean as possible, so antibacterial would be good. Maybe you could try a warm wash cloth aswell to help with swelling? I definately think you should try and get to a chemist or doctor as soon as you can though. But perhaps you could try something called epsom salts? I've heard that those are great for boils. I've also heard that If you get a lot of boils, its good to drink a lot of water, kind of to 'flush' your system of any toxins which may be causing the boils. When I was younger I would often get them, as I lived in a very hot and humid area and the only thing that would get rid of them was an antibiotic cream and drinking a lot of water.
Reply:I also have hyperhidrosis... and something called Hidradenitis Suppurativa ( reoccuring boils) ....

I have something I use called Hypercare that I apply to the pits at night after showering, and in the morning I use the secret clinical. Here is some info on HS about the Boil. I have both of those problems... so it might be for u too.

I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean or over wieght and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.

Here is a link :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradeniti...

or the HS_USA page is ..

http://www.hs-usa.org/hidradenitis_suppu...

If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.

Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.

There is a support group at MSN

http://groups.msn.com/HidradenitisSuppor...

This is also a link to a PDF of a study in Germany about HS and if it is genetic... I thought it was intresting :

http://www.hs-foundation.org/pdf/2000_Cl...

and a yahoo one, and I am open for questions!

I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long as I did.

Currently I have 5 , 2 next to each other on my right inner groin. 2 in my upper HAIR area, and 1 med sized on my butt on the panty line, and they do come every week or so. I find that certian foods, not having a regular showering regimen, wearing clothing that irratiates the area.. and STRESS usually are a precusor to getting one.

I also prefer to use NEXCARE bandages.. there are 2 kinds I like for comfort and stay put reasons..

the first is like a clear bandaid.... soft on the edges with a small area of bandage... helps with those buggers when they are on bikni line.. usually stay for me.. or occasionally on my inner thigh for those I like the foamy sponge like ones that are beige in color.. I think they are 3M.
Reply:I have a boil on my butt right now. I went to the doctor because it go so bad my lymph nodes started to swell and I could barely walk. I ended up with a fever and the chills. I was put on antibiotics and I feel so much better. The boil ended up draining...it's not completely healed I have an empty spot in my butt now...it looks pretty bad I know this is gross to, but I would suggest putting hot compresses on it!!!

Should I have the liposuction now or wait until later?

I want to have liposuction on my underarms to remove my sweat glands because I have hyperhidrosis. I want to get it done this friday, but I have a party to go to on saturday. I can't miss the party on saturday. The doctor said he would give me iv sedation as well as local anesthesia. The surgery is only going to last an hour and a half. Should I go ahead and get the surgery done this friday, or should I wait. I want to be dry for the party, but I am scared of the pain. Has anyone had liposuction done. Is it painful?

Should I have the liposuction now or wait until later?
I'm neither advocating nor speaking against the surgery, but if you do have it, I think you'll be in much too much pain to go to a party. It's a pretty violent procedure, with how they have to move the wand, so you'll probably be pretty bruised and sore for a while.
Reply:Don't be a twit, you are beautiful as you are, be you and win them over
Reply:I would definately wait. I know someone that had it done and though she wasn't laid up in bed for days on end she sure didn't feel like doing much of anything for a few days.
Reply:Which is most important? I am pretty sure you won't die from missing the party, but hey if you can handle both than go for it. You might be in some pain and a party pooper from being on drugs...but that is up to you!
Reply:I have never heard of that.

Don't get liposuction for that! That's crazy! I don't even think it would work.

If you absolutely must have medical intervention, get Botox injected in your sweat glands like a normal...uh...celebrity.

But not liposuction. That sounds like total quackery.

At least I've heard of Botox injections for hyperhidrosis.

And Botox, while not painless, doesn't require sedation.

No, don't get the surgery done at all. That's crazy. You'll feel like sh!t and it'll hurt like hell and you'll have weird swollen underarms...no! Don't do it!

Seriously, get Botox injections. Much less risk, much less involved a procedure.
