Anyone familiar with TriWest/Tricare - need help and info?

I've been diagnosed with chronic hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating over various parts of the body) and I wanted to know if anyone has info about TriCare covering the cost of the surgery to stop my problem (endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy). I have searched the TriWest website for several keywords to see approved surgeries or methods for treatment and can't find anything. Is anyone familiar with TriWest? Any suggestions?

Tasha: Whether or not TriCare covers your problem quite likely depends on how debilitating it is for you. Your physician might be the one who determines that. If he can make a good case to TriCare to cover it, they will. I would call TriCare first and talk to them. You should have a phone number on some of your TriCare correspondence. If not there, try their website again. There will be a phone number there. Be persistent. If the first couple of contacts can't answer your question, keep going up the chain of authority until you do get an answer. I wish you well.
Reply:I'm not familiar with TriWest, but I am very familiar with TriCare. Have you seen your PCM? Who exactly diagnosed you? If it was your PCM, they should be able to refer you to the proper specialist. Your referral will cover a certain amount of visits for certain dates. If you have any questions about coverage you need to go to your nearest TriCare service center.
